We're planning the next neighborhood watch meeting for Monday, July 24th at 6:30pm. The meeting will be held at the old Albany Baptist Church on 431 Delaware Ave (see the picture to the left).
We’ve done a little bit of research and as far as we can tell, the building has always been a church. Based on some of the architectural features, it’s likely that it was always a Baptist church, but it is possible that the Methodists could have been here first.
The church is historically significant because it became the 2nd home of the Albany Baptists sometime around 1912-14 when they were looking to expand out into the suburbs (funny huh?). So we know it has been a Baptist church for over 90 years.
We’ve got some newspaper clippings if you’re interested in seeming them after Monday’s meeting. Just be sure to remind me as I’ll probably forget.
An online journal and community bulletin board for the purpose of recording and taking action on issues important to all of us.

The House looks great. I not being a practising Baptist never set foot in the sanctuary itself.
Does anyone know what it was before it was the church?
I look forward to seeing the space.

I had always been told it was the Albany Public Library in this area before it was the Baptist Church.

I take that back! I was just told by a knowledgeable person that it was never a library. Virginia Bowers has said that it was always a church.

Good meeting last night. Thanks to all who attended.
Thanks to our common council member, Ms. Fahey, for attending.
Lastly, a special thanks to Perry & Laura for hosting and to Officer Montesano for discussing the nature of the NW with us.
